Women's Basketball: New Rochelle 75, Pratt 45

BROOKLYN, NY - The College of New Rochelle's women's basketball team traveled to Brooklyn on Sunday afternoon for their third consecutive conference game against Pratt Institute. The Blue Angels won convincingly over the Cannoneers finishing with a final score of 75-45. The win improves the Blue Angel's Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference record to 3-1 and their overall record to 7-10.

The team was led by sophomore Ashley Martin (Queens, NY) who recorded a double-double in the win over Pratt. Martin dominated the boards grabbing a season high 18 rebounds. The forward also added 15 points to the board along with five steals. 

Fellow sophomore Dar'Neisha Brice (California, MD) continued her success adding 21 points in the win. Brice also dished out eight assists and had five steals in the defeat over the Cannoneers. 

Junior Aaliyah Fields (Hollywood, MD) joined Martin and Brice scoring in double-digits as well. The guard netted 17 points in her 31 minutes on the court. 

The Lady Blue Angels now sit second in HVIAC women's basketball conference standings behind Berkeley College. 

The women's basketball team will host non-conference opponent Valley Forge on Saturday, February 3rd at the Wellness Center at 1:00 PM.

BROOKLYN – Amissa Epperson scored a team-best 19 points, and Anna Bryceregistered a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds, however, the Cannoneers of Pratt Institute fell to the Blue Angels from the College of New Rochelle, 75-45, on Sunday afternoon at the ARC.

For New Rochelle, Dar'Neisha Brice led all players with 21 points, while Aaliyah Fields and Ashley Martin added 17 and 15 points, respectively.

After five consecutive points from Anna Bryce gave the Cannoneers an early 10-5 advantage midway through the first quarter, the Blue Angels used a 10-0 run in a span of 90 seconds to regain the lead, 15-10. Back-to-back field goals from Amissa Epperson and Idalia Kaplan gave the edge back to Pratt, however, New Rochelle would score the quarter's final five points and lead 22-18. In the second quarter, the Cannoneers would be hampered by foul trouble as the Blue Angels would outscore Pratt 22-10 and build a 44-28 advantage at the half. The Cannoneers offensive woes would continue after intermission as New Rochelle would continue to add to their lead, coasting to the 75-45 victory.

UP NEXT – The Cannoneers host the Falcons of Davis College on Friday, February 2 in HVIAC conference play. A 6:00pm tip-off is announced.
