In their first game back since the break, The King's College Men's Basketball team went out to Brooklyn last night to play Pratt Institute. The Lions were down by 20 points in the second half, but the team stayed calm, and kept working hard. Slowly and steadily they started chipping away at the 20 point deficit. King's eventually took the lead 62-59 and with just 16 seconds to play Pratt came down in one last effort to tie the game. King's played tenacious defense and Pratt launched a final desperate shot which clanged off the rim, and when a Lion's player grabbed the rebound, the final buzzer sounded as King's clinched the 62-59 victory.

Senior captain James Brooks had his best game of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Fellow senior captain, Caleb Trouwburst, put on a defensive display and had 8 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal. Junior transfer Carter Fletcher grabbed 9 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals in his first collegiate game. But perhaps most impressive was the astronomical 37 points scored by Trivette Knowles, he also added 10 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots in a dominating performance.

The win improved The King's College HVIAC Conference record to 1-2 and they are 2-7 overall.

King's responded with five straight, but a Jones layup from an Andrew Yaglenski entry pass upped the lead back to double figures at 30-20 with 1:51 left in the first.

After a Bubby Vernon jumper 35 seconds later, Pratt went into halftime leading 32-22, holding the Lions to 25 percent (8-32) shooting for the frame. Grant and Philip led the Cannoneers through halftime with eight points each, while Knowles kept King's within striking distance with 16 first-half points.

After a 10-3 run to open the half, a Jones free throw extended Pratt's lead to 42-25 inside the 14:00 mark, and a Grant layup made it a 54-38 game with 8:30 left.

Caleb Trowburst's jumper at the 8:16 mark sparked a 10-1 Lions run in just 3:01. Clinging to a 59-52 lead, the hosts went scoreless on 0-8 shooting over the final 3:57, giving up 10 straight King's points, six from Knowles, including his pivotal three-point play at 1:41 from which the Cannoneers never recovered.

On the night, Pratt shot 3-24 (13 percent) from three-point range and 31 percent (22-70) overall. King's hit on 47 percent (14-30) from the field in the second half and 36 percent (22-62) overall.
