Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #2)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #2 of the 2023-2024 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

This week the honor of Men's Basketball Player of the Week goes to Julio Wallace from Berkeley College. Wallace averaged 13.5 points shooting 57% from the field, grabbed 6 boards, and stole the ball 1.5 times in the Knights two games during the week.  

Noteworthy performances came from Bryant Rosa of Villa Maria College, Joseph Matthews of the Word of Life Bible Institute and Branden Dugger, also from the Word of Life Bible Institute. Rosa scored a combined 36 points, including a game high of 23 points, as the Vikings won 2 out of 3 games during the week. Matthews is averaging 17.7 points per game with an impressive 48.9% from the field. Dugger currently averages 16.7 points per game while shooting 47.5% from the floor.

On the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC for Week #2, the honors for Berkeley College continue.

Kelsy Villanueva of Berkeley College is selected as Women's Basketball Player of the Week. Villanueva averaged an impressive 20.5 points shooting 44.1% from the floor,14 rebounds, and 6.5 blocks in the two scheduled games for the Knights.

Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week honors go to Rachel Sheaffer from the Word of Life Bible Institute. Sheaffer is averaging 11 points per game, and grabbed 20 rebounds against Great Bay Community College. The Huskies won 2 out of 3 games on their New England trip during the week.
