Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #4)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #4 of the 2023-2024 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

This week the honor of Men's Basketball Player of the Week goes to Jan Filip Jagielski from Five Towns College. Jagielski scored a combined 36 points and grabbed a total of 19 rebounds over the span of two games during the week.

Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week goes to Joseph Matthews from the Word of Life Bible Institute. Matthews posted a double-double, 25 points, 17 rebounds during the Huskies only game for Week #4.

Noteworthy performances were had by Travis Shearin from the Word of Life Bible Institute, Shearin scored 25 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Josiah Mitchener and Kenneth Hines from Berkeley College. Mitchener scored 10 points, snatched 4 boards, and dished out 2 assists against Bryant and Stratton College, Buffalo. Teammate, Kenneth Hines shot 7/11 from the floor leading a team high of 15 points. And, Elan Williams from Five Towns College, who scored a combined 47 points, 6 rebounds, and 7 assists during the Sounds two games for the week.

On the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC for Week #4, the honor of Women's Basketball Player of the Week goes to Keisy Villanueva from Berkeley College. Villanueva averaged 16.5 points, 13.5 rebounds, and 5.5 blocks. Her game high for the week came against Bryant and Stratton College, Buffalo with 25 points, 15 rebounds, and 7 blocks.

Rachel Sheaffer from the Word of Life Bible Institute claims Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week for Week #4. Sheaffer scored 6 points, grabbed 13 boards, and shot 66.7% from the free throw line.

Notable performances were had by Kayli Hayden from the Word of Life Bible Institute,and Talaya Guirantes of Five Towns College. Hayden scored 12 points, grabbed 6 rebounds, and stole the ball 8 times. Guirantes amassed 20 points, 9 redounds, and 2 assists.
