Vikings to Face Knights in Men's Basketball Final

The Men's Semi-Final featured the #2 Seed Villa Maria College against # 3 Seed Five Towns College. During the regular season, the Vikings bested the Sound 91-75, creating a highly anticipated rematch between the two teams.


The first half of action saw the Vikings get on the board first off of a pair of made free-throws from Damario James. The Sound would answer a few moments later with a jumper from Ahmad McKnight. A series of missed shots and turnovers, impacted both teams for a span of eight minutes, with neither taking a large lead.


Taron Benton and Bryant Rosa from Villa Maria would snap that streak comfortably leading the Vikings to a double digit lead. Scoring from Tyler Bond would keep the Sound within reach, and a made basket from beyond the arch by Jan Filip Jagielski cut the Viking lead to 11 points.


Villa Maria College would take a 14 point advantage into halftime, with a 40-26 lead over the Sound.


The second half saw the Sound struggle with missed shots, turnovers and fouls, which the Vikings would capitalize upon. In the first ten minutes balanced scoring between Juston Johnson, Damario James, and Taron Benton would build a 20 point Villa Maria lead.Tyler Bond, Jan Filip Jagielski, and Eian Williams, would combine for 52 of Five Towns College's 69 points.
The Vikings would go on to claim victory over the Sound, 88-69.


The #2 Seed Villa Maria College will face #1 Seed Berkeley College in the championship game scheduled for Sunday, March 3, 2024 tip-off at 3:30 pm.
