Men's and Women's Basketball Players of the Week (Week #10)

The Hudson Valley Intercollegiate Athletic Conference recognizes the following Student-Athletes for their performance in Week #10 of the 2023-2024 Men's and Women's Basketball season.

This week the honor of Men's Basketball Player of the Week goes to Juston Johnson from Villa Maria College. Johnson scored 28 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, dished out 7 assists, and stole the ball 2 times in a Vikings victory over Five Towns College.

This week the honor of Men's Basketball Rookie of the Week goes to Joseph Matthews from the Word of Life Bible Institute. Over the course of three games, Matthews averaged 20 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2 steals.

Notable performances were had by Nolan Shephard, Brandon Speller, Rickey Jones, and Travis Shearin. Shephard of Villa Maria College scored 21 points, snatched 8 boards, blocked 4 shots, and registered an assist in a victory over Five Towns College. Speller posted a team high of 14 points and 6 rebounds in a Berkeley College win against Regent University. Teammate, Rickey Jones, scored 7 points and grabbed 5 boards during the same game. Shearin from the Word of Life Bible Institute averaged 12.7 points and 8.7 rebounds over the span of 3 games for the Huskies.

On the Women's Basketball side of the HVIAC for Week #10,the honor of Women's Basketball Player of the Week goes to Za"Nya Henderson from Berkeley College. During the week Henderson averaged 13.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and 1.5 steals for the Knights.

Dakotah Cutting from the Word of Life Bible Institute is selected as Women's Basketball Rookie of the Week. Cutting averaged 9 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.3 steals for the Huskies during Week #10.

A noteworthy performance came from Cutting's teammate, Kayli Hayden. The Sophomore Guard averaged 16.3 points, 5 rebounds, and 4.3 assists in her 108 minutes of court time during the week.
